HOW TO PURCHASE BINOCULARS AND SPOTTING SCOPES THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME

Shopping for binoculars and spotting scopes can be a bit intimidating.  You need not worry.  Here are a few questions to consider when choosing the right pair of binoculars or spotting scope:

1.  What will you be using them for 75% of the time?

Many customers make the mistake of purchasing a pair of binoculars because of a special event, such as a vacation or sporting event.  When they get home, the optics they purchased just don't fit their every day need.  We use the 75% rule of thumb when guiding our customers into an optics purchase.  Decide what you will be using the binoculars for 75% of the time.  Purchase the pair that fits your needs 75% of the time and accept their performance for those special trips or events.

2. How far away will your subject be?

The first number on most binoculars is the magnification factor.  95% of the users need only a 8X binocular.  A 10X binocular is used where the subject is 100 or more yards away.  The biggest drawback to a 10X binocular is the amount of distortion received due to hand shake.  Any hand shake is magnified along with the image.

3.  What is your budget?

Binoculars and spotting scopes are for the most part priced according the the quality of the prism.  Think of the prism as a diamond.  The clearer the diamond, the better the cut, the higher the quality, the higher the price.  The same is true of the prism in a pair of binoculars or in a spotting scope.  We carry the highest quality optics found at each of the pricing levels.  At some levels that may be the Eagle Optics brand.  At other price levels it might be the Vortex brand.  You will find quality at every price range however.  We field test each and every model to determine the best value at each price range.

All of our Certified Bird Feeding Specialists are also Optics Certified.  They must complete a very detailed training course in how to use and recommend binoculars and spotting scopes.  We all must be recertified each year with all of the new models and lines.

Choose from Vortex, Eagle or Triumph optics and you will not be disappointed.
